BMW Hydrogen 7, equipped with an engine clean air pollution more bearable

Yes, as you just read, BMW is working on an engine that cleans the air. This engine, which only emit, absorb and burn particulate air pollutants. This new engine was made in the latest version of the BMW Hydrogen 7, which only uses hydrogen as fuel, gasoline dispensing and gaining autonomy and refinement on the previous version, which has marketed a limited edition of 100 units .

Because the motor is powered by hydrogen, practically its only waste is water vapor, so that its operation does not produce CO2 or any other type of pollution associated. However, burned in the combustion air pollutant particles, as indicated by the mark, the air that is expelled from the engine is cleaner than their own area. Do you still sounds weird? For this model already exists as a demonstration vehicle, not a project in the mind of a visionary.

In this new experimental version of the Hydrogen 7 has been modified 6-liter V12 engine from the previous version only works with hydrogen, it has managed to increase performance and reduce consumption. Autonomy is precisely one of the Achilles' heel of this model. The 8 kg of liquid hydrogen storage in the cryogenic tank do not allow more than 225 miles without refueling, compared with 200 km of bi-fuel version (consuming only hydrogen).

BMW is determined to bet on hydrogen as the fuel of the future, and it has announced that the future line of Hydrogen 7 will go through the development of a supercharged version (with compressor). In the words of Tobias Brunner, head of BMW's Hydrogen Project, the supercharged versions way to increase engine power 2 to 3 times, achieving between 570 and 730 hp. You begin to see the best side hydrogen right?

With this car BMW the world is aware that hydrogen is the future energy source more logical, and it provides a number of reasons. The first is that in the combustion process, hydrogen does not produce any pollution, the second says that hydrogen can be produced using clean energy like solar, wind, or otherwise. Finally, the third reason brings is that hydrogen can be produced anywhere in the world in a stable, ensuring a constant supply.

In my view, hydrogen is the fuel of the future when production does not involve a huge expenditure of energy. At present this is not possible, because for the separation of hydrogen from water molecules are used an electrolytic process that takes a lot of electricity. It is possible that this technique is already outdated, but still need years of development to see the mass production of cars powered by hydrogen, and so long as the very strong vested interests behind the black gold permit.
